Dear friends,

In this rapidly moving situation “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble”.  (Psalm 46:1)

You will be aware that the country is moving towards lock-down in an attempt to reduce the spread of coronavirus and that advice is to avoid all non-essential social contact, in which I’m told the government includes faith groups.  In addition, Hardwick Primary School, along with other local schools has cancelled all out-of-school groups using the premises with immediate effect.

We are committed to encouraging each other to survive and thrive in knowing Jesus during this time and are looking into how we do this practically.  We’ve cancelled all our regular meetings in their usual format but are actively experimenting with video meeting technology.  On Friday, we will let you know more about plans for Sunday morning.  At the very least we will have suggested readings, prayers and songs that we can use at 10:30am in our homes.  We hope to be able to offer more.  We don’t want to give up “the habit of meeting together” (see Hebrews 10:25), we just need find new ways to do this, and ways to introduce people to Jesus during these difficult time.

In the meantime, do look out for each other by phone, and other electronic contact.  And please pray, and find things to thank God for.  Now is a good time to plant some seeds and pray a prayer of hope that the seeds will grow into plants that will be useful and beautiful in the coming weeks.

God bless.
